Georgette Heyer novels generally follow a certain pattern.

Barren Corn, an early novel she later suppressed, does not. I spent a lot of time wanting to throw this book against the wall (and I think many of you would really, really hate it) but I did find it a more compulsive read than the other three early contemporary novels she later suppressed.
