As we all know, Twinkies -- gasp gasp -- are no more. (Except apparently in Canada, where the brand is owned by a company that worked a little less hard to turn itself into a financial disaster.)

Some of us may remember in the good old days, when comics were comics and Twinkies were Twinkies and Ding-dongs were weapons that middle or last pages of comic books often contained elaborate ads for Hostess products that featured heroes and villains happily munching on Hostess products -- an activity that, astonishingly enough, had no effect on their keenly chiseled abs. (I am reminded, however, that webslinging is a very intense activity that burns through a lot of carbs even apart from a heightened metabolism so one benefit of getting bitten by a radioactive spider is you can eat all the Twinkies you want, and given how many carbs you'll want to eat this may in fact be a slightly better financial choice than, say, Godiva truffles. Or cheesecake. But I digress.)

In that spirit, several comics artists decided to bid a fond farewell to Hostess products.
