Over at Tor.com, the long requested Edward Eager reread has finally gotten started. This should hold us through October.

As Tor.com commented:

"Finally a children's book that tells a fun, issue-free story about magic! @Mari_Ness rereads Edward Eager's HALF MAGIC."

Cough. For the record, I'm not deliberately looking for unfun, issue-filled stories without magic. I thought the Freddy the Pig series was just going to be silly fun. Nobody warned me about the dictatorships, the pig cannibalism, and the Communists. (No one ever does.) This series, however, does seem to be on the nicely silly side. So far. Alas, the local library did not have Eager's first two children's books, so I'm only rereading the Magic series (and technically for six of the seven books this is not so much "rereading" as "reading for the first time) but if the series stays this lighthearted (and after what happened with Freddy, I no longer trust any long series) this should be fun.
